Film overstretching is one of the main reasons for complaints after a car wrapping job. Many high-quality, cast films can be easily overstretched and perfectly formed.

In beads, you should be extra careful with overstretching, because the shear forces here are particularly high. Therefore, a certain overstretching of the film should not be exceeded under any circumstances - the limits here are just 25 to 40%!

But how do you determine the necessary overstretching for a bead in advance, so that you can decide whether to apply the vinyl on and process it with the heat gun, or whether you have to work the film into the bead?

This is how you quickly and accurately calculate the expansion of the film

1) First measure the total length of the bead using the ruler, for example 15 units. This is then value "A".

2) Then place the ruler in the center of the bead. Apply the red adhesive tape accurately into the bead. The more precise you work here, the more exact the result will be.
When you have finished, you can see at the bottom of the ruler how much shorter the tape is now. This is value "B", for example 4 units.

3) Now divide value "B" with value "A" and multiply the result by 100. Now you have determined the expected stretching of the film in percent (example 4:15 x 100 = 27%) and can decide on the next steps.
